A man who was wanted in Tehama County and caught by Redding Police has been sentenced for his initial Tehama County escape charges. 58-year-old Matthew Kopp also goes by the names Blaze, Hayes, Bitter, and Matthew Lacross. The Corning man was caught with about a half-pound of methamphetamine during a traffic stop and convicted of felony transportation of drugs. He was sentenced in April of last year to ten years of electronic monitoring and work release. He never showed up for work release and he cut off his ankle monitor and dyed his hair a different color to avoid being located. Several months later, Redding Police and Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies found Kopp hiding under a car. Kopp has been given another ten year sentence, except this time it’s going to be served in state prison.
