A Cal-Fire employee on his way to support firefighting efforts on the Carr Fire died in a crash in Tehama County very early Thursday morning. Shortly after Midnight, a Cal-Fire heavy duty utility truck was northbound on Highway 99 about 4 miles south of Los Molinos, according to Red Bluff Area CHP Officer Ken Reineman. The deceased driver has been identified as 40-year-old Andrew Brake of Chico. Cal-Fire says he was a heavy equipment mechanic with the Cal-Fire Butte Unit.
