A man has been arrested after a burned body was found near a wildfire in the Lassen National Forest. Shasta County Sheriffs Deputies were called last Thursday to an area west of the Battle Creek Reservoir after someone found a woman’s body in a rock crevice near where a wildfire had burned. The body was badly burned and has not been identified, but investigators say they know her identity based on evidence and other statements obtained during the investigation. Arson investigators have determined that the decedent was not responsible for the nearby fire. The major crimes unit has been in contact with the family of the believed decedent. On Saturday deputies arrested 48-year-old Frank Alexander of Shingletown. He is believed to have been in a dating relationship with the woman for the past several weeks. Deputies say when they made contact with Alexander he was wearing a hat, glasses, fake mustache, and had colored his eyebrows with a marker in an attempt to disguise himself because he apparently knew deputies were looking for him. He was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
