UPDATED: Casa Ramos Reopens Today. ORIGINAL STORY: A popular Mexican restaurant chain with a location in Redding was closed yesterday after being raided by the State Department of Justice. Search warrants were served simultaneously at all 14 Casa Ramos restaurants in Northern California, including the one on Hilltop Drive in Redding. A sign on the front wall apologized and said temporarily closed until further notice. There’s no explanation from the restaurant owners, but apparently only the Placerville location remained open yesterday. The state Attorney General’s website says the operation was done by the “tax recovery and criminal enforcement task force”, which it says “combats illegal business activities that rob California of public funds and its citizens of public services.” there are no official details that have been released about the reason for the raids.
