Man Sentenced To 5 Years Probation After Felony Convictions

A Tehama County judge has apparently shown some sympathy for a man who set fire to a huge pile of his own stuff. 44-year-old William Gene Fox was arrested on April 10th of last year. He owned property in Los Molinos and got tired of evicting unwanted visitors from the land. Fox used a backhoe to pile up a mobile home, a 5th wheel trailer, another camp trailer and two pickup trucks. Fox then set fire to the entire mess. When confronted by one of the trespassers on the property, Fox attacked him and threatened to kill him. He was convicted of two felony counts of causing fire of a structure and one count of felony criminal threats. The Tehama County Probation Department recommended 6 months in jail, while the District Attorney’s Office recommended state prison. After an extensive hearing, Fox was sentenced to five years probation, behavioral health court and one day in jail.
