Although air travel in Redding has not been impacted by the shutdown, there is one project that’s being held up. The city has built office space inside the main terminal at Redding Municipal Airport for TSA employees. The General Services Administration needs to give final approval for the new facility before the space can be occupied and the city can start receiving lease payments. According to Interim Airports Manager Rod Dinger, the process has been delayed during the shutdown, which started on December 22nd. He says the city has completed it’s part of the construction. For many years, TSA has operated from an office trailer at the airport.
