The annual Red Bluff bull sale started almost 80 years ago and for more than 50 years it’s been the Red Bluff Bull and Gelding Sale. Now it’s the largest livestock event of its kind west of the Rockies. Thousands of prospective buyers are checking the stock and this weekend they all go on the auction block at the Tehama District Fairgrounds in Red Bluff. Last year bulls went for as much as $10,000 and geldings for up to $30,000 it’s not just for livestock sales anymore. Stock dogs are a big attraction as well- and a big money maker as a couple of dogs fetched $30,000 each. Anything with a western theme is being sold there, from handmade saddles and jewelry to furniture and livestock trailers. There’s also a western art show and auction. Tickets and more details are at redbluffbullsale.com.
