A Democratic challenger to Northstate Congressman Doug LaMalfa has officially announced the start of her campaign to unseat the Republican. An event was held by Audrey Denney and her supporters at Old City Hall in Downtown Redding Saturday. Denney is a Chico resident who quit her job as an agriculture instructor at Chico State University last year in order to devote her time to challenging LaMalfa. The incumbent won that contest by about 28-thousand votes. Denney says her primary focus would be natural resource management. She wants to increase forest restoration work and hopes that communities can work together to build defensible space around homes and businesses. She has promised not to take any corporate money for her campaign.
