Northern California Expected To See Above Normal Fire Risk

While most of the country is expected to have a normal or below normal chance of wildfires this month, western states have an above normal risk. The August forecast from the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise shows most of California, Oregon, Washington and parts of Nevada are considered at high risk. While longer range predictions decrease the area of high risk, Northern California is forecast to have above normal risk through September and October.
