New Police Chief Selected

The City of Redding has selected from within for their new Chief of Police to replace the retiring Roger Moore. Captain Bill Schueller has been appointed as chief by the city manager, pending approval by the city council. Schueller started with the RPDin 1994 as a patrol officer. He worked five years as a traffic officer and five years as an investigator. He currently oversees the Field Operations Division, which includes patrol, school resource, K-9s, swat, traffic, community cleanup and NPU. Captain Schueller recently managed a five year project for the purchase an implementation of a new countywide dispatch and records system. He’s a native of Albany, Oregon and moved to northern California in 1993 to attend the Butte Law Enforcement Academy. He was selected as chief from a field of 15 qualified candidates chosen in a nationwide search. RPD has 106 sworn officers and 59 non-sworn personnel with an annual budget of around $30 million.
