An ominous looking column of black smoke in East Redding Monday afternoon was quickly doused by the Redding Fire Department. It was coming from a motor home that went up in flames on Gibralter Road about a quarter mile from Redding School of the Arts. The RV burned down to the chassis and the fire also burned about a half acre of dry grass. Two people had been working on the motor home when the electrical wires started burning and the fire spread quickly. They had two fire extinguishers, which they tried to use on the fire, but both extinguishers failed to work.
