12 local schools will participate in the 23rd annual International Walk to School Day this Wednesday. Local elected officials, principals and parents will join students in forming “walking school buses” where groups will walk to school together that day. Sponsored locally by the Shasta Safe Routes To School Program, the event is designed to create safer routes for walking and bicycling. More than a thousand students, parents and community leaders are expected to participate. For more information on Walk To School Day, call Sara Sundquist at 245-6457.
