Smoke may be seen in the Platina area this week from prescribed burns in the area of the Harrison Gulch Ranger Station. Several sites totaling 58 acres will be burned, starting as early as Wednesday. Smoke may be visible for several days. Fire management will be working with the air quality management board to comply with air quality regulations. Officials in Lassen National Forest are also set to begin prescribed burning on thousands of acres throughout the Almanor, Eagle Lake and Hat Creek Ranger Districts. Much of the thinning work has already been done, with materials gathered into hundreds of piles that will be burned when conditions are safe.
