A suspect in a Redding murder case from six years ago has been ordered to stand trial. Matthew Hartman is accused, along with Carleen Honaker, in the 2013 murder of 53-year-old Charles Roy Sweetwood, who was found dead in his apartment on C Street. He had been shot to death a number of days prior to the discovery. The case had gone cold until new evidence was uncovered by the RPD last year, and in August of this year arrest warrants were issued for burglary, robbery and murder. Hartman still lived in the area and was taken into custody. Honaker had moved away but she was found and returned to Shasta County. A preliminary hearing was held for Hartman Tuesday and he’ll return to court on the 20th, when trial dates will be set and he’ll be arraigned for first degree burglary and a special allegation of murder committed during the commission of another felony using a gun. Honaker remains in custody without bail. She has a court appearance on Thursday.
