A 35-year-old Big Bend man died in a crash Tuesday morning. At around 8AM somebody happened upon a gray Toyota Tundra pickup facing sideways on Big Bend Road near Jack’s Lane about 5 miles north of Highway 299. Jess Shane Baugher was laying dead on the roadway behind the truck. The CHP determined that he had been driving southbound on the twisting icy roadway when he ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected to the left, and went into a slide. The right front fender collided with the trunk of a Cedar Tree and the truck rolled over before coming to rest back upright. Baugher was not wearing a seatbelt and he was ejected during the rollover, suffering fatal injuries.
