A man who reportedly eluded Corning Police after ramming one of their cars has been caught. James Robert “Woody” Smith was chased by Corning Police on Wednesday evening until he crashed into an Olive Tree in an orchard. He then backed into a Corning Police car before fleeing on foot. A search was done with help from a CHP helicopter, but Smith wasn’t found. Thursday morning officers found Smith at a home just outside of Corning and took him into custody.
