A motorcyclist in Siskiyou County went very fast to get away from pursuers, but everybody needs a pit stop and that was his undoing. At 11:23AM Monday morning a Yreka Area CHP Officer was on Interstate Five at Walters Road Bridge when a 2007 Suzuki GSXR 750 motorcycle passed him at very high speed. The officer got behind the bike to try and read the license plate, then turned on his emergency lights to make a traffic stop. The rider accelerated, reaching speeds of more than 125 miles an hour while making unsafe passes of other vehicles. For safety sake, the CHP discontinued the chase as the rider sped southward. A CHP Officer started checking gas stations in the Dunsmuir area and at 11:46AM he found the motorcycle and rider at a Chevron station. 46-year-old Brandon Wicken of Stanwood, Washington was taken into custody. He’s charged with reckless evading, drug possession and driving on a suspended license.
