Council To Discuss Declaring Local State Of Emergency

The Redding City Council will consider declaring a local state of emergency Tuesday. That would make the city eligible for possible emergency aid reimbursement from the state and federal governments. It would also allow the city to make contracts for goods and services without a competitive bid process. Another effect would be that it would give City Manager Barry Tippin authority as Director of Emergency Services to coordinate planning, preparedness and response efforts. He also would have the power to limit access to city facilities or limit city services at his discretion.
