Fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause of a group of fires in the Mountain Gate area north of Redding. Cal-Fire crews made an aggressive initial attack a little before 2 O’clock Monday afternoon on five separate fires near Wonderland Boulevard on the west side of Interstate 5. One of the southbound lanes of the freeway was closed for a few hours due to firefighting equipment parked on the shoulder. The five fires were contained at a total of around 3 acres, according to Cheryl Buliavac with Cal Fire.
