A pedestrian killed in South Redding earlier this week has been identified by the Shasta County Coroners Office as 61-year-old Murray Ronald Roseberry. Just before 11 O’clock Wednesday night, 63-year-old Stewart Helmer of Anderson was driving his SUV towing his boat on a trailer in the southbound lanes of Highway 273 when he saw Roseberry walking along by the curb on the right side. Helmer swerved to try to avoid Roseberry, but hit him with the trailer. Helmer immediately pulled over to check on Roseberry and called 9-1-1. Roseberry later died at Mercy Hospital. Helmer was arrested for felony driving under the influence of alcohol and vehicular manslaughter.
