Some 4th Of July Fireworks Displays Cancelled Due To COVID-19

As far as Shasta County is concerned, there’s no such thing as “safe and sane fireworks”. Although they may be purchased legally just across the county line in Cottonwood, fireworks of any kind are illegal even to possess in Shasta County. Citations will be written for possession. If fireworks are lit, the penalty is greater, and if fireworks cause damage, there may be criminal charges and the person responsible or their parents can be held liable for all costs, both for damages and for fire suppression. All the area Independence Day celebrations that involve gatherings are canceled because of COVID-19, and many fireworks displays are canceled as well, but there are a few:
–Weaverville will have a fireworks display launched from Weaverville Elementary School on Friday the 3rd.
— Redding’s Freedom Festival is canceled, but the fireworks display will still take place on Saturday the 4th. No spectators will be allowed to gather in the Redding Civic Auditorium Area.
–Yreka will have a fireworks display launched from Siskiyou Golden Fairgrounds on Saturday the 4th.
–Anderson Explodes, Burney Basin Days, the Mount Shasta City Independence Day celebration and Red Bluff’s fireworks display have all been canceled.
