Officials at Lassen Volcanic National Park are warning the public to stay away from an area of Manzanita Lake after an otter attack. The Park Service says that a person was severely injured in an attack last Thursday. The extent of the injuries are not known, but the public is being asked to avoid an area of the lake. A map of the area is posted to the Lassen National Park Facebook page. The otter may have been protecting its young and den. Otters are known to be territorial, and will attack to protect their young.
