An Anderson man released from prison in January after a conviction for evading police while driving recklessly was arrested early Thursday morning for the same thing. A little before 3AM a deputy was northbound on Highway 273 south of Canyon Road when he came up behind a Mustang and believed the driver may have been under the influence. He tried to pull the car over but the driver sped up and led the deputy on a chase onto Canyon Road toward Happy Calley. The Mustang was being driven dangerously fast, often in the opposing lane, so the deputy stopped chasing it near Hawthorne Avenue in the interest of safety. As the deputy continued south on Happy Valley road he came upon the Mustang crashed in a ditch near Triple S Drive. The driver was gone, but after other deputies arrived they found 34-year-old Travis John Byrd in some berry bushes about 50 yards away. He was arrested for the chase and for violating his post release supervision terms.
