Teen Drowns Near Centimudi Boat Ramp

A young teenager apparently drowned at Lake Shasta Tuesday night. At around 10 O’clock 49-year-old Hosie Rouse contacted a security officer at the dam and said he had been at Centimudi Boat Ramp with his 3 grandsons, aged 6, 7 and 13. The three boys were visiting from Stockton. Rouse said they were playing in the water next to the dock with other kids and adults when the 13-year-old walked away to talk to someone fishing on the bank nearby. A short time later the boy was heard yelling for help. Rouse and others started searching the dark surface of the water but they could not see any sign of him. Deputies and fire rescue personnel arrived within 8 minutes of the call and minutes later they found the boy in about 10 feet of water near the dock. CPR was attempted but he could not be revived.
