A fire in the Jones Valley area sent up a nasty looking plume of black smoke Thursday morning. Located off Dry Creek Road near Sage Brush Trail, it was an abandoned boat that had been torched. The flames spread to brush and trees, but Cal-Fire held the fire to less than an acre.
A fire has been contained east of Cottonwood. It started at around 7 O’clock Wednesday night in the area of Rupert Ranch near Parkville Road and Ash Creek Road. It was reported to have a slow rate of spread and was contained at around 5 acres of mostly dry grass and light brush.
