A man was rescued from the Sacramento River Tuesday despite showing no interest in being rescued. A little before 4 O’clock the 42-year-old man floated by the Sundial Bridge as a number of people offered to help him. More help was offered as he floated under the Highway 44 Bridge, but he refused and spoke incoherently, making no attempt to get himself out of the frigid water. Several agencies responded and the man was pulled from the water by Sheriff’s Boating Safety Deputies and then turned over to Redding Police. He was transported to Shasta Regional Medical Center to be treated for Hypothermia and to get a mental health evaluation. The Sacramento River flows out of Shasta Dam at about 50 degrees year round.
