Many lightning fires are burning in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Most are very small. The Salmon Fire near Salmon Mountain was remapped overnight and downgraded in acreage to about 385 acres. The Bald Fire near Castella is around 10 acres. The Round Fire started Monday southwest of Platina and the Forest Service has stopped forward progress at a couple of acres. A new fire start was reported Tuesday morning at Lake Shasta. The Bridge fire is near Packers Bay on the south side of O’Brien Mountain. It’s been contained at 16 acres.
At least 32 fires are known to be burning in the Klamath National Forest. Most are very small. There’s a couple of fires near Happy Camp, one of them 50 acres and the other 8 acres.
