2PM Thursday: New Cases Reported In Trinity & Tehama Counties

Another Shasta County resident has died of COVID-19. The woman in her 80’s is the county’s ninth death from the virus. Nine new cases Wednesday range in age from their teens to their 60’s. Seven have symptoms. There have been a total 348. There are 52 active cases. 9 people are hospitalized, two of them in intensive care. 261 people are quarantined due to possible exposure.

California’s only COVID free county has joined the club. Modoc County has reported two cases, both of them in the same household.

Butte County’s reported another 17 cases Wednesday and 24 Thursday to bring their total to 907, with 7 deaths. Butte County was placed on the state watch list last week.

Tehama County reported 5 new cases Wednesday and 8 Thursday for 227 cases with one death. Trinity County reported a 5th case Thursday. Glenn County is on the state watch list, with 315 cases and one death.
Lassen County has had 59 cases in the community, in addition to 499 in the prison population. Siskiyou County has had 69. There have been 228 in Humboldt County with 4 deaths.

21,581 tests have shown negative results in Shasta County. Those numbers don’t include people who have been tested for antibodies, as Vitalant has been doing with all blood donors. Anyone can still get tested for free, whether showing symptoms or not. The best option for testing can be determined by going to shastaready.org and clicking on “get tested”.

Shasta County is not on the Governor’s watch list, but public health says the only way to prevent further restrictions is by following the guidelines of face covering, social distancing, restricting travel and staying home when sick.
