Crews Contain Most Lightning Fires, Salmon Fire Continues To Grow

Nearly all the dozens of lightning fires in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest have been contained or extinguished. The exception is the Salmon Fire, which is being managed along with Red Fire as the Red Salmon Complex. Together the fires total 2,643 acres with no containment. Forest Service crews are using minimum \impact suppression tactics because it’s a natural fire burning in a wilderness area. The 35 fires in the Klamath Lightning Complex have either been contained or, in the case of three of the them, have not grown over the weekend.
