PG&E says they’ve restored power to 97% of their customers that were affected by the public safety power shutoff imposed this week. Crews had to follow every line on the grid to inspect equipment for damage from the heavy winds. The outages began Monday night to about 167,000 homes and businesses. They’re the first by Pacific Gas & Electric since critics blasted a series of shut-offs a year ago as poorly executed and overly broad. PG&E said better weather forecasts and updates to its grid, including sectionalizing devices, allowed the utility to be more targeted this time.
