A woman who got disoriented while hiking in the Whitmore area ended up lost in the woods alone for five days. The 27-year-old woman went for a hike last Monday along South Cow Creek. Her family and friends went searching for her when she did not return home, and they found one of her shoes and her cell phone. They notified the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office and the search and rescue team was called out. After a thorough search through the rugged terrain, the woman was found on Friday on an isolated cliff along the creek. A CHP helicopter was used to harness her out of the woods and transport her to a hospital. She was dehydrated and had a lot of scratches and bruises, but was otherwise in good shape.
