A bicyclist was struck and killed by an Anderson Police car Sunday night. At about 9 O’clock an officer was northbound on a dark stretch of Highway 273 just south of Thomas Road when the patrol vehicle struck a bicyclist who was apparently riding in the traffic lane. The officer attempted life saving efforts until paramedics arrived but the unidentified bicyclist died at the scene. While the officer was rendering aid to the victim, a sergeant arrived and began conducting traffic control. He had parked his patrol car south of the crash scene , and was outside of his vehicle when the driver of a northbound sedan apparently didn’t slow down and crashed into the sergeants police vehicle. The sergeant was able to jump out of the way, and suffered moderate injuries. Both vehicles sustained major damage, and both the sergeant and the unidentified driver were taken to the hospital. As of Monday the driver of the sedan was in the I.C.U. with major injuries. The CHP is investigating.
