Recovery Center Opens As Zogg Fire Is 100% Contained

The Zogg Fire is officially 100% contained. The fire started September 27th and burned 56,338 acres. 204 structures were destroyed and 27 damaged. The Zogg claimed 4 civilian lives and an inmate firefighter injury. All evacuations and closures have been lifted.

Cal-Fire fire investigators are looking into whether PG&E caused the Zogg Fire, and they’ve taken possession of equipment belonging to PG&E near the fire’s origin. Shasta County District Attorney Stephanie Bridgett says criminal charges may result, including homicide.

A local assistance center for residents affected by the Zogg Fire will open Wednesday at the fairgrounds in Anderson, and it will remain open from 10AM to 7PM daily through next Wednesday. The center is being set up by the county to provide a one stop shop for recovery assistance. Representatives from local, state and federal agencies will be there to help with a variety of needs. Information is available by calling 2-1-1.
