Shasta County Reports 2 COVID-19 Deaths Over The Weekend

21% of the U.S. population have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine. Public health experts are urging continued mask-wearing and refraining from nonessential travel as the coronavirus continues to infect more than 50,000 Americans each day.

The virus is still killing people, including another 2 Shasta County residents reported from Friday and Saturday for a total of 192. The latest to die were a man in his 60’s and a woman over age 89. 22 new cases were reported, along with 4,447 negative tests. The total number of cases so far is 11,192. An estimated 111 people have the virus right now, 9 of them hospitalized and 2 in intensive care.

California vaccine eligibility has been updated, and several first dose and second dose vaccination clinics are set for the next few weeks. Information is available at under “Vaccinations”. It can take as long as 8 weeks to gain the full benefits of vaccination.

Tehama County has reported 5,180 cases and 53 deaths.
There have been 378 cases and 5 deaths in Trinity County.
1,835 have been reported in Siskiyou County with 14 deaths.
Butte County has reported 171 deaths among their 10,926 cases.
Lassen County has had 22 deaths among their 2,034 cases in the community and 2 deaths among the 3,597 cases in prison.
Humboldt County has had 3,370 cases and 34 deaths.
Modoc County has had 464 cases and 4 deaths.
