Wandering Wolf Tracked On Journey Across California

A wolf from Oregon that entered California in February has made it to Monterey County. A tracking collar on the wolf, known as OR-93, showed that he made it as far south as Monterey County. The wolf’s recent activity marks the first time in roughly 100 years that a wild wolf has been this far south in the state. California wildlife officials have been tracking the wolf in its migration across the state, which includes stints in Mono County, across the Sierra and San Joaquin Valley. The wolf has also been to Fresno and San Benito Counties, according to state wildlife officials.
