The Salt Fire has burned about 12,546 acres, according to the latest update. Containment is still at 25%, mostly limited to where the fire butts up to the Sacramento River and along Interstate 5, though there has been some spotting across those lines. On Tuesday the fire again threatened homes in the south end of the fire near Gilman Road. All evacuations remain in effect. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office is coordinating evacuations. A lot of information is available by calling 2-1-1. The fire is burning into areas that were previously burned by the Delta Fire in 2018. Crews and super scoopers at the north end have been working on contingency lines. 41 buildings, including at least 27 homes, have been confirmed destroyed in the Salt Fire. A community meeting will be held at the Lakehead Lions Club on Mammoth Drive Thursday evening at 6PM.
