There was a fatal crash in Shingletown early Wednesday morning. The CHP was called at around 1:30AM by someone who said they were almost struck by the 1994 Chevy S-10 before it went off Highway 44 and into the trees near Chateau Drive. The truck hit a ditch and a tree, partially ejecting the driver before continuing on and colliding with another tree. A passenger, 48-year-old James Louthian of Fairfield, suffered major internal injuries and was taken by helicopter to Mercy Hospital. The unidentified driver was declared dead at the scene.
