Containment Drops On Dixie Fire As It Spreads Into Lassen County

The Dixie Fire has become the largest single fire in state history, and it’s not over yet as it crawls into Lassen County. It’s now 489,287 acres, and containment has been greatly reduced to 21%. At least 400 structures and 227 minor structures are confirmed destroyed. 3 firefighters have been injured. Fire managers now say they expect full containment by Friday of next week. Crews have strengthened control lines to the south of Westwood. Evacuation orders are changing on a daily basis and are far too numerous to report. More than 5,800 personnel are working the Dixie Fire. It started in the Feather River Canyon July 13th, apparently from a PG&E equipment failure.
