The Dixie Fire is showing very intense behavior, with large columns and Pyrocumulus development. Crews are trying to protect Janesville and the Genesee Valley. On Wednesday Firenados were seen jumping over Highway 395. Increasing fire activity has delayed repopulation of Westwood. Many other communities are also under evacuation orders, including Mineral and Cold Creek in Tehama County. The Dixie has burned more than 678,400 acres, with slightly improved containment of 35%. More than 700 homes are confirmed destroyed, along with hundreds of commercial and other structures. 3 firefighters have been injured. There are almost 6,000 personnel working the Dixie Fire. It started in the Feather River Canyon July 13th, apparently from a PG&E equipment failure.
