Limited Resources Used To Protect Structures In Trinity County

New evacuation orders were issued Wednesday for the Monument Fire, including all areas north of Highway 3 from Hayfork Summit through the Town of Hayfork, as well as all areas north of the intersection of Highway 3 and Hyampom Road down to 9 Mile Bridge. Orders also include Barker Mountain and areas northwest of Hayfork Summit and Sunshine Meadows, Harrison Road, Farmer Ranch Road, Ewing Road and all homes off Brady Road in Hayfork. Evacuations remain in effect for the Highway 299 corridor from Junction City to Burnt Ranch. Warnings are in effect for many areas, including Weaverville and Douglas City. The Monument Fire now covers more than 135,700 acres. Containment is still only 10%. A lack of available resources is limiting crews to structure and resource protection, as there is not enough manpower to directly engage the fire. Highway 299 is closed from Cedar Flat to McCoy Lane.
