According to PG&E, essentially all customers who lost electricity in this week’s Public Safety Power Shutoff were restored by 5 O’clock Thursday afternoon, although some remained without power in the Viola area and east of there. The shutoff by PG&E started Tuesday afternoon, affecting around 50,000 customers. Crews made up of 1,300 ground patrol units and 33 helicopters inspected the entire grid for damage. That’s more than 3,200 miles of distribution and transmission lines. They found at least ten places where winds had damaged equipment, and at least four of them had the potential to start a wildfire if the lines had been energized.
