Dixie Fire Growth Slows

Growth has been minimal on the Dixie Fire, which has burned more than 731,300 acres, now with 41% containment. On the east side, the line is secure in the Janesville/Milford area and they’re mopping up in Genesee Valley, but the area remains evacuated. Crews have been concentrating on protecting Taylorsville. On the west side, there have been considerable losses in Lassen Park, but Mineral has reopened to residents. Mill Creek and Childs Meadows are still evacuated. Well over 700 homes are confirmed destroyed, along with hundreds of commercial and other structures. 12,000 remain threatened. 3 firefighters have been injured. Around 6,000 personnel are working the Dixie Fire. It started in the Feather River Canyon July 13th, apparently from a PG&E equipment failure.
