A 28-year-old Red Bluff man was killed in a head-on crash very early Thursday morning on Highway 99 near Vina in Tehama County. At around 12:20AM a northbound 2018 Dodge SUV crossed over the center line south of South Avenue and plowed into the front of a Peterbilt gasoline tanker truck coming the other way. The driver of the SUV was wearing his seatbelt, but in this case it didn’t matter because the was vehicle was completely mangled. The impact was hard enough to knock the tanker truck off it’s front axle. It had no gasoline in the tank at the time. The truck driver, Pedro Macias of Chico, was hospitalized with moderate injuries.
