Monument Fire Grows Less About 1,000 Acres

The Monument Fire has burned 215,944 acres and containment is now 50%. 50 structures have been destroyed. 6 firefighters have been injured. Crews have made good progress west of Hayfork, in the New River Drainage and along the East Fork North Fork Trinity River. Evacuations remain in effect for many areas, including along Denny Road and Hyampom Road, as well as Helena/East Fork, Hobo Gulch, Big Mountain Road and Big French Creek Road. Hyampom Road is still very dangerous, with burning debris falling onto the roadway. Two community meetings will be held Thursday concerning the Monument Fire. One is at 11AM at the Hyampom Volunteer Fire Department and the other is at Hayfork Park at 3PM.
