No change has been reported on the Dixie Fire, still 960,600 acres, and 86% contained, but there’s a lot of work remaining on the interior and crews are strengthening containment lines in anticipation of erratic winds expected this weekend. Almost 1600 miles of dozer line has been cut. Evacuations for Old Station and Hat Creek have been lifted, but the fire remains active in Lassen Park, in the eastern zone, and the Devil’s Punchbowl. Highway 44 has reopened to one-way traffic control into Lassen County. Evacuations have been lifted in Plumas County. A firefighter on the Dixie Fire died of an illness and 3 others have been injured. More than 1,300 structures have been destroyed. PG&E is facing increasing scrutiny for their role in the fire’s origin two months ago.
