The Monument Fire has grown about 600 acres, now 219,254 acres, and 55% contained. 50 structures have been destroyed. 6 firefighters have been injured. Most activity is in the part of the fire that’s burning in the Trinity Alps Wilderness north of Denny Road, and structure protection continues in Trinity Village. Evacuations have been reduced to warnings for many areas, but remain in effect for Hyampom Road west of James Creek, Hobo Gulch and East Fork Road north of Barney Gulch. Traffic on Highway 299 is being escorted through the Monument Fire Zone between Burnt Ranch and Helena by a pilot car every 30 to 45 minute between 7AM and 7PM every day of the week now, and the highway is open without restrictions overnight.
