Veterans Resource Center Opens At Shasta College

Military veterans seeking higher education have a new source to find a variety of resources. The Veterans Support and Success Center opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday. The proceedings were highlighted by Korean War Veteran, former State Senator and retired Secretary of the California Department of Veterans Affairs Maurice Johannessen. The center will provide vets and their families a supportive place with direct access to resources available to them. There are offices for counselors and staff specializing in veterans needs, a conference room, quiet study rooms, and a student lounge with computer access. The construction was funded by Bond Measure H, a $139 Million initiative approved by voters in 2016. The 2700 square foot building is just south of the campus quad.
