Crews were able to hold control lines on the massive Dixie Fire as gusty winds struck parts of the fire zone Tuesday. California’s largest fire of the year remains 94% contained. Very minimal growth was reported on the Dixie Fire. Most of the fire was in unburned islands of vegetation. The fire has burned 963,309 acres since it was sparked July 13th in the Feather River Canyon.
The Monument Fire remains 72% contained. The fire was remapped and the acreage burned was decreased to 223,001. Road closures and restrictions, as well as evacuation orders and warnings, remain in place for the fire.Full containment of the fire is estimated for November 1st.
The River Complex in Klamath National Forest grew buy about 250 acres and now total198,555 acres. Containment has improved to 69%. On Tuesday more evacuations orders were reduced to warnings for some areas of Trinity County.
The Antelope Fire east of Mount Shasta is not expected to grow, with 95% containment after burning 145,632 acres. Evacuation orders and warnings have all been lifted.
The McCash Fire in a remote area of the Marble Mountain Wilderness has burned 93,250 acres with containment of 53%.
