A man is under investigation in two counties, accused of taking money from people for jobs he never completed, according to the Corning Observer. 39-year-old Gregory Scott Gallagher was arrested by Tehama County Deputies last week at his Rancho Tehama home and booked for grand theft by embezzlement. Justin Holliman reported that he had hired Gallagher from a Craigslist ad in February to do some work on a gate and gave him a few thousand dollars as a deposit, but the work was not done. Holliman posted his own ad on Facebook warning others about Gallagher, and said he got multiple emails from other victims. Four of them were contacted by the sheriff’s office, saying they were defrauded of about $30,000. Gallagher reportedly admitted to accepting the money, saying he still intends to do the work, but said much of the money went to back child support and about $10,000 may have been lost gambling. Gallagher was booked on similar grand theft charges in Shasta County in January.
