A Red Bluff man has made a plea deal that’ll send him to prison for arson. On September 9th of this year, 31-year-old David Earl Clopp set fire to grass and brush in the creek area near Jackson Street, threatening nearby structures. Clopp has entered a guilty plea to felony unlawful burning, and admitted a prior strike felony conviction, meaning he’ll serve 4 years in state prison. He’s also awaiting sentencing for a separate vandalism case that’s expected to bring a three year sentence. Red Bluff Fire Chief Ray Barber says it’s important for people to know that fires such as these stop because of successful arrests and prosecutions, not simply because it started raining.
